I have always been an avid reader, but mysteries are my favorite. The first mysteries I remember reading were my mom’s old Trixie Belden series. Now I will read almost any mystery, although I stay away from the most violent. My favorite mysteries are sub-genre ones, especially culinary and gardening. Some of my favorite authors are Katherine Hall Page, Ann Ripley and Earlene Fowler. I also love mysteries set in New York City. I read more hard-boiled authors like Mary Higgins Clark, Patricia Cornwell and Robert B. Parker, too. I do read non-genre fiction and quite a bit of non-fiction, also.

I have been a librarian for five years and one of the best parts is knowing what books are coming out ahead of time---especially mysteries. I also wrote for a daily newspaper while I was in college.

One of my husband’s and my favorite things to do is to make trips to Manhattan to used and new bookstores. Between April and October I read mysteries between innings of Mets baseball games.
