*****
Henrie O does it again! Her good friend Gina begs her to travel to San Antonio to find her missing granddaughter, Iris Chavez. Iris has just disappeared and her grandmother is sick with worry. She works at the exquisite Tesoros Gallery, a family owned gallery that specializes in the unusual and very expensive artifact. The matriarch Maria Elena Garza is still the head of the company, but various sons, daughters-in-law, and grandsons actually do the day-to-day running of the gallery and connecting bed-and-breakfast.

Henrie O steps in with her usual aplomb, taking them all by surprise. It is not too long before she discovers that Iris and grandson Rick are a romantic item. She also discovers that Iris is still alive, but in terrible trouble. It seems that the integrity of the Gallery is at terrible risk because of a discovery that Iris made. And someone wants to make sure that no one else finds it – or Iris.

Henrie O must learn the truth, protect Iris and Rick as best she can, and stop the murders. Oh yes, there are murders. And poor Manuel, Maria Elena's oldest son, who is "special" is going to be accused of the dastardly deeds.

Henrie O brings her considerable talents as a former crack newspaperwoman to ferret out the truth, no matter who it hurts. Hart's characters are, as always, believable, likable, and certainly true.

As usual, Carolyn Hart's Henrie O character is understated yet persistent; underappreciated yet determined. The character and the atmosphere of the story are both intellectually entertaining and fully satisfying. The deductions are simple, yet foreshadowed. It is a very well-written story with shadings of the atmosphere of the famous San Antonio River Walk. Not only does the reader emphasize with the main characters, but would die to actually see the River Walk. Well done!
